April 14, 2025. Teun Schrieks and Magdalena Lesch from our partner Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) visited the Emilia-Romagna Model Region to collaborate with local partners on forthcoming survey and choice experiment activities.
The day began with a guided visit to the picturesque Ridracoli Lake and Dam, an area central to the ongoing activities of ARCADIA’s Co-Innovation Lab 1.

Following this insightful field trip, partners gathered for a focused working session aimed at designing and refining activities for Task 7.2 of the ARCADIA project. This task is dedicated to exploring public acceptance and citizens’ preferences regarding Nature-based Solutions (NbS) across Emilia-Romagna.

This productive meeting represents a significant milestone in advancing ARCADIA’s goals, marking clear progress towards developing effective strategies to enhance public support and engagement for the adoption of NbS.

Teun Schrieks, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam
“We had an insightful discussion: we agreed on analysing public acceptance of sustainable forest management scenarios. We will collect preferences from a large group of people from both the mountain and plain areas in Emilia-Romagna. We will include people’s preferences on reduction in flood and landslide risks and their valuation of biodiversity and several other ecosystem services.”
