Upscaling Nature-based Solutions for a climate-resilient Europe
Join Land4Climate, an ARCADIA sister project within the NBS4EU cluster, at RWTH Aachen University on October 6, 2025, from 9:30 to 16:00 for a crucial mid-term event focused on Upscaling the implementation of nature-based solutions throughout Europe: Implications for policy and practice from NBS4EU.
Nature-based Solutions (NBS) are essential for transforming Europe into a climate-resilient continent. A key challenge lies in upscaling and mainstreaming NBS into environmental and land-use policies. This event fosters collaboration between the seven major Horizon Europe projects within the NBS4EU cluster, including M4Adapt and Cohesion4Transition, to share lessons learned and chart a course for the future of policy and practice.
Event Highlights:
- Keynote speeches
- Policy roundtables
- Gallery walks showcasing NBS in leading regions from NBS4EU
- Peer-to-peer dialogues
Key Topics:
- Funding and policy for NBS: explore how to promote the adoption of NBS in various institutional contexts, identify helpful European and national funding mechanisms, and address public policy interventions that hinder or support NBS implementation across Europe.
- Spatial requirements of NBS: discuss the spatial needs of NBS, their impact on current land uses, and the distribution of costs and benefits.
- Evidence-base of NBS: examine the importance of proving the impact of NBS for successful implementation and upscaling, including identifying suitable locations and evaluating effectiveness and efficiency.
This event aims to advance the Mission Climate’s goal of guiding 150 regions toward climate resilience by 2030 and ensuring a significant impact of NBS across Europe.
